What is Trademark Examination Report? - An Overview

When you apply for a trademark, it goes through several stages. One of the important stages is Examination by the Registry. An official check your application for any mistakes or if it follows the rules of the Trade Marks Act and its Rules.

After the check, you get an examination report with the examiner’s comments. If everything is okay and there are no issues with other trademarks, your application moves forward to be published in the Journal. But if there are problems, the examiner gives feedback and asks you or your lawyer to explain why your application should move forward. If you don’t respond, your application might be abandoned, which means you have to respond to the report from the Registry.
